The one with all the podcasts

  • 20 October 2026

I’ve been curating the list of podcasts in my podcatcher for many years. There are some older blog posts where I elaborated on that, such as the post from 2018 that re-capped a panel at Kielux on podcasts. Occasionally I’m asked which podcasts I’m subscribed to, and instead of just sending over the OPML file, I built a page that is generated from my OPML. The script that parses the OPML additionally fetches the artwork and some metadata.

Listening habits

I used to be very pedantic about not missing an episode; however, as the list of podcasts grew over time, listening to every episode was not an option anymore. :) Nowadays I still have a few podcasts where I don’t miss an episode; for most podcasts I only listen to the episode if subjects of interest are discussed. Usually I listen at 1.5 to 2.0 speed. There are a few exceptions to that, either because the hosts/guests already speak very fast OR because listening at original speed is part of the experience.

When and where do I listen to podcasts?

While travelling, going from A to B, or doing errands (shopping, etc.), or while cooking, it is typical times when I listen to podcasts. Furthermore, with road cycling I have a fairly time-intensive hobby that is perfectly suited for listening to podcasts as well, so on some of my longer rides I listen to podcasts for part of the ride as well.
